The Metro Minnies is the Metro Region CCCA, Inc.’s youth program, which was started in 2011. This free program invites children of all ages, five years old to college age, and their parents and grandparents to share in the learning of our Full Classic cars. Children will have the opportunity learn how to judge a Full Classic and put their new skills to use at our Grand Classic.
Our inaugural Metro Minnies experience was held at our Region’s Grand Classic, in September 2011. In the morning, six Metro youths worked vigorously with our tabulators. They assisted our judges by providing judging sheets and “running” completed forms to our tabulators.
At noon, five of our Minnies were met by Tabetha Salsbury on the show field. Ms. Salsbury is a graduate of McPherson College and is the Youth Advocacy Coordinator for Hagerty Collector Car Insurance. Tabetha comprehensively explained the various parts and workings of our Full Classics, and provided a primer on the art of judging.
With their new-found knowledge, our junior judges evaluated the cars on the show field. The judges taking on this difficult task were: Jill Greenberg, Max Holman, Nicholas Marano, Madison Marano, and Ryan Nippert.
At our banquet that evening Nicholas Marano, Madison Marano, and Max Holman presented the inaugural Metro Minnies Classic Car Awards to:
1st Place ~ Michael Paone ~ 1930 Lincoln Landulette
2nd Place ~ George Holman ~ 1930 Cadillac Sport Phaeton
3rd Place ~ Sonny and Joan Abagnale ~ 1934 Duesenberg
Our thanks to Hagerty Insurance for proving the awards presented to the winners!
